About the Support Group
How it all started
Any cancer diagnosis is extremely scary and can also be lonely. Some patients and professionals felt that there was a gap in this vital area of support. The growp was created by patient Cameron Burry and the first meeting was held in January 2011. Cameron made the exciting move to New Zealand shortly after, so two other patients, Rob Myers and Lesley Abraham decided to take over the running of the group. At this point, we were lucky that a Clinical Nurse Specialist was appointed and Sarah joined forces with Lesley and Rob. They contacted members, bought cake....and the rest is history!
